This is a very gently flavored, traditional green tea. I tend to enjoy my green teas with a little more flavor, but if you enjoy a more delicate cup, you will likely enjoy Hanami. The cherry is a nice addition, that brings some interest to the flavor and keeps it from registering as bland. As always, the tea forte pyramid infusers are adorable. Great for hosting.
Much like the loose variety of this tea, Hanami is very light and perfect for the warmer months. The aroma is fantastic and the cherry flavor is a subtle undertone rather than the main flavor. Given how subtle the flavoring is, I would suggest making sure you know the size of your tea cup. I believe the infuser is meant for an 8oz cup and many cups are 12oz. Oversteeping turns the flavor bitter and the infusers don’t allow for you to add a little more to the brewing, so it’s best to use the appropriate cup size or the flavoring becomes too weak to enjoy. Like all the infusers at Tea Forte, the string is strong enough that you can crimp it on the edge of the cup and it doesn’t sink - a wonderful trait.
I have written a review about the tea itself, but wanted to include a review about these great presentation boxes. They make wonderful gifts for a tea connoisseur or someone that is new to tea in general. With the Petite Box it allows a person to get to know the tea prior to buy the loose tea or another box. And if by chance it isn't their "cuppa..." they can pay it forward.
I love Tea Forte. I love cherry blossom. Most of my reviews give 5 stars to teas I buy from here. So far, I have not had a good luck with having pink flower petal in a Hanami pyramid. Only 1 or 2 in a pyramid, so no special taste or aroma for Hanami yet. Is it supposed to be so? Perhaps it is supposed to have a very subtle aroma. I expected too much, I guess. But the green tea is fine.
this tea is my new favorite. I thought it was going to be too much like cherry marzipan but I was pleasantly surprised when it was not. It has a wonderful aroma before it is brewed that does dissipate a bit. The flavor is very light(does not seem to have a heavy earthy flavor that many green teas do) but I believe that is what makes it unique and why I can't stop drinking it. I think I have consumed about 10 servings in the past day! I have had it iced and hot and have enjoyed both. The cherry flavor is not too strong and there is no after or artificial taste. I drink my tea with out any sweetener. I also put a small amount of tart cherry juice in the iced version and enjoyed that as well with double health benefits. I was able to get a second steep with relatively good flavor also. Wonderful addition to some already amazing teas.
