Unlike tea, rooibos never grows bitter from steeping. Steep as long as you like.
Did You Know?
Starting in the mid-20th century, rooibos consumption became very widespread in South Africa, spurred in part by beliefs that it can help with colic in babies. Generally consumed with milk and sugar in South Africa, rooibos has rapidly attained popularity in Europe and North America over the past decade or two, where it is often drunk without any additions.
Tea Type: Herbal Tea
Origin: South Africa
Rooibos is an Afrikaans word, meaning ‘red bush’. Rooibos tea, or bush tea, only grows in the ‘Cedarberg’ area (Afrikaans for Cedar Mountain), a very small part of the Western Cape Province of South Africa. This yellow flowered plant produces green needle-shaped leaves that are harvested in summer. The oxidation process transforms the green needle-shaped leaves into distinctive reddish-brown needles, giving it its name. The Rooibos needles are then processed in a similar way regular tea leaves are being processed. Rooibos is Antioxidants rich and contains no caffeine and tannins which can cause bitterness.
Tea Forté African Solstice also contains Elderberries and blueberries, which add a fruity depth to this Rooibos tea and are also rich in antioxidants.
Ruby red rosehips add an enticing balance of tart and sweet and are also rich in vitamin C, one of the safest and most effective immune-supporting nutrients.
Tea Forté Rooibos tea is balanced by adding mallow flowers, rose petals and natural vanilla flavor.
- Flavor: The tartness of the berries balance with the natural sweet of the rooibos for a rich, fruity cup
- Aroma: fresh, sun-ripened berries with a whisper of vanilla
- Color: bright orange-red liquor
- Strength: medium bodied, smooth

This is definitely my favorite tea, it smells so sweet and it has a floral taste. I would recommend it to others. I'll be buying my next can soon!
I got this tea a couple of years ago as a Christmas it is a great tasting tea and I would buy it again!
I had never tried a rooibos before, and tried it as the first in the sampler box to get it out of the way should I not like it. During steeping, it smells disturbingly like Robutussin, but I was determined to try it. It will be the first gone from the sample box because I love it. Didn't add a thing to it, and it is wonderfully flavorful.
I have a picky tongue. I brewed this in my kati cup and only put one teaspoon so it brewed pretty weak in 12 oz of water instead of 8 and I'll up the amount next time, however it was delicious! It smells heavenly and has a sweet, relaxing taste. I will probably drink this in spring and summer in the morning. I would definitely recommend this.
This tea is the best I've ever had. Got it in a gift sampler. Will order it in bulk. Strong but not bitter and smells like heaven.
Thought it would be good and something that I would like after reading the description and some of the reviews. The vanilla smell and taste was overpowering to me. I love the English breakfast and will keep trying flavors until I find another one that I like.
I got a gift set and this tea was great. I tried the roobios sampler on adagio teas and I didn't like any of them. I don't like to add sweetener to my teas and this one is perfect. It also is caffeine free as a bonus. I bought a big bag of it I loved it so much.
African Solstice was easily the best tea I've ever had and will have in my life.
So, yesterday I was up at central market, and I found this tea. I had no idea what to expect, so I bought it as a sort of random tea grab-bag for myself. When I got home, I opened the tin, got it all ready, and took a sniff, and let me tell you, this tea smells almost EXACTLY like fig newtons, but even better! It has sort of an extra sweetness and richness to its' scent over fig newtons, and that scent persists after you steep it, although while steeping, it starts to smell like oatmeal, the rich fig newton scent comes back once it's finished. The tea itself is also very pretty to look at, so that's also a plus. All in all, this is a really really nice tea! I would recommend that you try to get your own cheesecloth or teabags to use this with, because there's quite a few small particles that will come out into the tea if you don't use a really fine mesh steeping device, I suppose that's the natural quality of rooibos, since I'm a newbie to rooibos tea. Summary: If you like Fig Newtons, you will love this tea. If you like really sweet teas, this is your rooibos. If you don't like really sweet smelling teas and tend towards mroe grassy or herbal smells, this probably isn't your cup. It's a very, very nice tea for what it is, though, so I strongly recommend giving it a try!
Tea Forte has taken it to the next level with this flavor. A friend gave this to me as a gift and it is my all-time favorite. I must admit that it is hard to share when people come over, but apparently my taste buds are selfish!
I purchased a sampler box as a hostess gift for a friend, and then forgot to give it to her on arrival. I discovered the box when I returned home and decided to keep it for myself. I'm so happy that I did. I have enjoyed many of the teas from the box, but yesterday I decided to have the African Solstice. Right away I knew it was a rooibos by the aroma, but the combined fruits and vanilla intrigued me. There was such a large amount of tea in the infuser that I steeped it in a teapot, instead of a mug. I loved that it was enough to make a whole pot, and that it was very light when steeped this way. I never use sweeteners in tea, and this one certainly did not require any with the fruits giving it just a hint of sweetness. I have liked rooibos teas in the past, but this one puts all others to shame. Love, love, love it!
This is a great tea & absolutely one of my favorites. I just had 2 in my Forte sampler box, but am going back to order it in the loose leaf tin. This is my first rooibos type tea & to me it has more substance & depth than the herbal teas I'm accustomed to. I'll be trying the other rooibos teas after having success with this one. Give it a try!
This is a nice blend that smells wonderful in the tin and is very pleasant in the cup. It has a distinct, mild undertone of raspberry, which I like. Because of this, I am looking forward to trying some of their other raspberry teas. I also think this would be a good iced tea, though I have yet to prepare it that way.
i received a sampler box as a gift and only had one african solstice. i loved it so much, i went looking for more at a nearby store but they didn't carry african solstice. i was so upset! however, i was able to special order two tins of loose tea leaves. ahh, this tea is heavenly. it has a semi sweet undertone but not powerful like a fruit flavor tea. and the hint of vanilla is just divine. this will be my all-time tea from now on. good job, tea forte
I tried this at a cafe recently and I have to say this is one of my teas. My friend and I both enjoyed it. Now if only I could find a place that sells it here.
I have ulcerative colitis and a lot of coffee's and tea's have me sick . A doctor friend of mine had me to try the African Solstice and it was wonderful it didn't upset my body at all. Now I drink it cold & hot to relax my stomach all the time and it taste delicious. Bravo TeaForte
I first tried African Solstice as part of a sampler pack of pyramid infusers and I knew I had to buy more of it. If anything, the loose tea is better than the pre packed tea as it allows you to use what provides the best flavor profile for your tastes. This tea tastes exactly like you imagine it would based upon the ingredients. Best of all, the berries impart their own natural sweetness that results in the tea requiring little or no sugar to enhance the taste. Definitely one of my favorites, I will continue to purchase.
I have recently become obsessed with Tea Forte and the African Solstice is a top 5! I have yet to try one that i didn't like.
I received a tea forte sampler for xmas 2012. As soon as I opened the package of African Solstice and inhaled the aroma I knew I had found something very special. The anticipation while the tea was steeping was rewarded with wonderful surprise of the flavor. I added a touch of honey and did not find it too sweet. I LOVE this tea and will definitely order a good supply!
I would like this better. The smell when I opened it was cloyingly sweet, so I was a bit skeptical. Upon first brew, I put in the usual amount of sweetener. I couldn't drink it. It took me a minute to figure out why, but my brain finally caught up to my sense of taste and informed me that it tasted like cough syrup. I figured I'd give it another shot, this time without all the sweetener. That thick, medicinal fruity flavor was still there. Once I got it in my head that it tasted like cough syrup, I couldn't even stand the scent. I asked my husband if he would drink it. He sniffed it and was not interested. I ended up sending the canister to a friend. She's never mentioned it, so I have no idea if she liked it or not... I was disappointed because this tea had such good reviews. To each his/her own I guess...
Fighting jet lag on my first evening in Ireland, the waitress suggested African Solstice after dinner. She brought it on its special tray with its tea pot and matching cup. I was enchanted by the presentation and noted the unique aroma. Sipping the tea without any additions, I thought it was the best tea I'd ever tasted. I returned to the restaurant several times and ordered the tea. When I came home, I search the Internet until I found Tea Forte.
a great tea- bought it for a tea party and came back to buy two more cans for myself and more for Christmas gifts!
In fact, I thought it was awful. I'll stick with my green teas. Love Tea forte!
This is the most delicious tea ever. I've never tasted anything like it. Other teas don't compare. It is so flavorful and complex, yet delicate. The combination of the berries and vanilla are the perfect blend.
I have never found a non-caffeinated tea that I liked. They're always too weak & without much flavor in my opinion. This tea has changed my opinion of herbal tea. As soon as you pour on the hot water, the fragrance hits your nose & you know it's going to be wonderful! I drink it with milk & sugar & it has such a smooth & flavorful taste, it just satisfies my desire for a nice "cuppa" as we say in England. Way to go, Tea Forte!!
I received this as a present with the Kati infuser (which I also love!) and I cannot stop drinking it. It is simply one of the tastiest teas I have ever had and currently my favorite.
I think the African Solstice is the best tea I've ever tasted. I received a variety pack of Tea Forte teas as a gift and when I tried the solstice, I was blown away!
I first tasted the African Solstice at Framer's Touch, in Forest Grove, Oregon. After I headed home the taste lingered in my mouth. I couldn't get the tea out of my mind. I have since gone back and purchased two boxes. It is now my very favorite tea! And ... I am not a big tea fan but the African Solstice is now at the top of my list! It has just the right amount of everything.
I came across the Tea Forte brand at a local specialty store. I purchased a box with several different teas, and fell in love with the African Solstice herbal tea. I have been drinking tea since I was a small child and am an aficionado. I have a cabinet full of teas of every imaginable flavor. Right now, I have been drinking African Solstice everyday and the other teas are languishing behind closed doors. Bravo to Tea Forte.
I've been a fan of Tea Forte's blends for about a year, but only recently tried African Solstice. I wish I hadn't waited so long. It's now my favorite. The aroma is amazing and the flavor is so wonderful, you really don't need to add a thing. I usually brew it in a large pot and use it for iced tea. If I do that, I add just a tad bit of natural sugar. But if I drink it hot, I don't add a thing. It's so tasty just as it is. I hope Tea Forte never stops offering this blend.
This is by far the best tea I have ever sampled! I just had to share it with my family and friends!!
Mmmmm... simply delicious!
"African Solstice from Tea Forté brings the best of those favorite flavors to life. The scent of the tea is absolutely divine! It smells like fresh, sun-ripened berries, with just a whisper of vanilla."
Read the full detailed review at: www.teareviewblog.com
In a little specilaty shop last weekend, I was given a sample of this tea. I'm a die-hard coffee drinker, but always wished I could find a tea I really enjoyed for the benefits of the antioxident and health properties (although I do confess to being a Chai Latte addict which is not even close to being a healthy habit), and this one is it! I purchased a large box of the silk infusions that day, and made my first visit to the website today. I'm looking forward to enjoying this delicious tea often, and am so happy to have discovered tea forte`!
I prefer caffeinated teas, but this was perfect for when I was nursing and avoiding caffeine. I loved the taste of vanilla. It's great even without sugar.
