About Moroccan Mint Tea

Tea Type : Green Tea

Tea Forté's award-winning Moroccan Mint green tea combines hand-rolled Chinese gunpowder green tea with fresh nana mint leaves. Also known as atay bi nahna, Moroccan Mint Tea, is the national drink of Morocco, and is the traditional tea of Moroccan hospitality. The green tea leaves are rolled to protect the precious oils, and to early traders, these leaves resembled buck-shot, hence the name. Nana mint is a fragrant mint grown only in North Africa. It possesses a distinctive, mint-menthol-like character. This is a favorite tea of hospitality both in Morocco and the Middle East where it is commonly prepared. It is traditionally served in clear glasses sweetened with sugar. It is believed to be a wonderful digestive aid, famous for its anti-heartburn properties. Studies show that green tea aids in detoxifying the body, regulates your blood sugar, and promotes healthy teeth, skin and bones.

Mint herb tea is a quick and easy way to introduce the mint and its healing powers into the body, calming the ailing person and allowing them to have enough relief that he or she can get some rest and begin to heal.

Ingredients and certifications may differ slightly between our pyramid infusers and loose tea canisters for this blend, see package for details.

    Real tea leaves

I've ordered other loose leaf mint tea and was very disappointed. The tea leaves were all ground up and tasted "dirty." This tea from Tea Forte gave me the opposite experience. Would buy again.

Drink it Hot or Cold, It's Wonderful!

As always, this is my favorite tea. It's so soothing. I drink a cup of hot in the morning and cold throughout the day. I keep a large pitcher of it in my fridge. So refreshing in hot Georgia!

    Situational but Refreshing

When well brewed, and when one is in the mood for it, this tea is excellent. The mint provides a refreshing note to the gunpowder tea, which itself provides a decent base. That said, this tea is extremely finicky to brew properly, and often times ends up with one flavour overpowering the other. Soften the mint will drown out the green tea, or the tea will grow too bitter for the mint to subdue. Similarly, mint's brand of refreshing taste is best suited to warm, sunny weather, making this tea a less appealing option in colder climes and seasons. If you are a perennial fan of mint, more power to you, of course. I recommend this tea in a chilled or iced form on hot summer afternoons, or in its hot form during a summer thunderstorm.

    Yummy

I mix this tea with the lemon sorbetti and citrus mint. It tastes similar, but better, than Starbucks jade citrus mint. 😎 wish it was a little more minty
