I am drinking this tea as I write this review, and I can say that it is smooth and flavorful, but does not taste to me like a typical oolong tea. If I were doing a blind taste test, I would guess this te to be a light bodied black tea, such as a good Darjeeling, or perhaps a Keemun (Chinese black). The aroma is an interesting mix of floral, mild spiciness and earthy. The color of the cup is a pleasing red-brown. I would reach for this tea if I am in the mood for a light, smooth black tea; but the caffeine content does seem more like an oolong tea (i.e. mild perk) when steeped at around 170 degrees F, for 1-2 minutes).
Formosa Oolong makes a great cup of tea. It’s a very mild tea flavor. One that is very light but aromatic.
