About Sencha Tea

Tea Type : Green Tea

Tea Forté's Sencha green tea is skillfully steamed, rolled and pan-fired in a wok to create the ultimate cup. The special characteristic of Sencha tea comes from the method used to dry the tea leaves. After the leaves are picked, they are subjected to a period of steaming, then the leaf is withered to reduce the moisture, after which the leaves are rolled into very fine needles. The process is repeated three times. USDA Organic and Kosher Certified, this green tea has half the caffeine of black tea.

Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque.

Steeping instructions

1. Heat water to 170˚F.
2. Place tea in cup and pour water over the leaves.
3. Steep for 60 to 90 seconds only. Sencha brews quickly, and you don’t want to over-steep and risk bitterness.
4. Enjoy!

For loose leaf iced teas, use 2 tsp per 8oz glass.

    An Earthy Green Tea

I like to drink a variety of teas: (black, green, oolong, rooibos and herbal). After trying a few Single Steeps collections and reading reviews, I chose this as one of my green tea options. For some reason, this tea tasted better in the Single Steeps packaging than it does in the canister. While I enjoy drinking it, there are other teas I would choose over this one.

    Sencha done right

A nice mellow green tea with the grassy flavor you would expect from a sencha.

    AMAZING Taste

I was introduced to Tea Forte through a friend who provided me with a gift certificate. I have been drinking hot tea for more than two decades and have to say this is the absolute best tasting tea ever!!! The flavor is crisp and the smell inviting. I splurge as often as I can !!!

    Love this tea

My husband and I enjoy having this tea in the afternoon it is a nice refreshing pick me up. I love this tea and using the caffe cups just makes it so much more special. We found this tea while on vacation in Rome and were so happy to be able to get now that we are home.

    So lovely!!

This tea is truly wonderful. I bring the water to 175 and steep for four minutes just as recommended. It comes out perfect with no dry aftertaste. Just refreshing and flavorful. I highly recommend this tea and think this is a great tea for someone who is just getting started with drinking tea. It doesn’t have an overwhelming taste and in my opinion, you don’t need to add any sweeteners. Plus, it doesn’t have as much caffeine as the black teas, I think.
