About Moroccan Mint Tea

Tea Type : Green Tea

Tea Forté's award-winning Moroccan Mint green tea combines hand-rolled Chinese gunpowder green tea with fresh nana mint leaves. Also known as atay bi nahna, Moroccan Mint Tea, is the national drink of Morocco, and is the traditional tea of Moroccan hospitality. The green tea leaves are rolled to protect the precious oils, and to early traders, these leaves resembled buck-shot, hence the name. Nana mint is a fragrant mint grown only in North Africa. It possesses a distinctive, mint-menthol-like character. This is a favorite tea of hospitality both in Morocco and the Middle East where it is commonly prepared. It is traditionally served in clear glasses sweetened with sugar. It is believed to be a wonderful digestive aid, famous for its anti-heartburn properties. Studies show that green tea aids in detoxifying the body, regulates your blood sugar, and promotes healthy teeth, skin and bones.

Mint herb tea is a quick and easy way to introduce the mint and its healing powers into the body, calming the ailing person and allowing them to have enough relief that he or she can get some rest and begin to heal.

Ingredients and certifications may differ slightly between our pyramid infusers and loose tea canisters for this blend, see package for details.

    Moroccan Mint Tea

I took my grand daughters to a Princess Tea and they tasted, and enjoyed, the mint tea that was served. When we got back home I made Moroccan Mint Tea for the girls. It was cold and rainy that day, so I served the tea hot. However, the girls enjoyed the tea so much that they commented that it would be great cold, as well. I like it cold on a very hot summer day.

    great iced tea!

I love this as an iced tea and a hot tea, I make it by the pitcher, pour a cup as a hot tea, then refrigerate the rest for iced tea! I make this year round because it's so refreshing

    What it is

This is what it is supposed to be, a bit too much tea only but true to its title.

As close as I’ve come to the real thing

I’ve just returned from Morocco, where the tea is always made with the fresh version of Maghrebi spearmint. Unlike most “Moroccan Mint Teas” available in the States, which are made with an excess of peppermint flavoring, this tea is the closest I’ve found to the original. The dried spearmint is as close in flavor to the fresh one as you can expect of a dried herb, and the Gunpowder tea imparts the perfect balance of flavor with a slight bitterness on subsequent rebrewing. Definitely not a candy cane in a cup.
