About Darjeeling Quince Tea

Tea Type : Black Tea

Tea Forte's organic black tea, Darjeeling Quince is an entrancing, delicious cup with high floral aromatics and a delicate briskness.

Besides being a readily available and delicious fruit, quince is also valued because of its important place in human health. Also, quince is rich in certain organic compounds like catechin, epicatechin, limonene, and various other phytonutrients, all of which contribute to the health benefits of quince.

This tea combines citrus, quince and hibiscus with a lighter black tea. Quince is a fruit in the same family as apples and pears. It usually isn't eaten raw but instead tends to be cooked and used in jams and jellies. The aroma of the tea is primarily a citrus black, with a little hint of something that is probably the quince (because it definitely isn't hibiscus). The taste continues the emphasis on citrus, with the quince playing second fiddle and the hibiscus thankfully coming in a distant third. I wish the tea itself were a little stronger player, but that is likely a personal taste issue as I tend to love darker teas. This is a solid B+ tea, tasty but not overly complicated. It's also likely to be a good starter tea for someone looking to venture beyond basic blacks, as it's not too heavily scented or flowery.

      Unique and Wonderful

I originally received this blend as a gift in a sample pack. It took me a while to obtain a larger quantity of it because of packaging changes (at one point I thought it had been discontinued). It's a lovely Darjeeling, but the quince notes in it are so fruity and unusual. I love this tea!

      Best Flavored Tea

I love flavored teas and consider this one the best. No other fruit flavor beats the quince. In addition, the Darjeeling tea is strong and full bodied. It is a pleasure to have a cupper in the afternoon. It mingles well with a fruity scone.
