All tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. How the leaves of the plant are processed and their level of contact with oxygen determines the type of tea. The more processing the leaves go through, the darker the leaves become, resulting in a distinctive color and taste characteristic. There are four main varietals of tea: black, green, white, and oolong. Tea contains substances called flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidant polyphenols. Antioxidant polyphenols help protect the body's cells from damage due to harmful molecules called free radicals. Regardless of the processing method, black, green, white and oolong teas all contain polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high as or higher than many fruits and vegetables in the ORAC score, a score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods. Green tea is a variety of tea that has undergone minimal oxidation during processing, resulting inunique catechins, especially epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Green tea has half the caffeine of black tea and varies widely in appearance and taste. Our green tea captures the fresh clean air of high mountain tea gardens and defines how green tea should taste. Fresh harvested leaves are skillfully steamed, rolled and pan-fired in a wok for the ultimate cup.

Hopefully the Skin-smart line isn't anyone's introduction to Tea Forte teas as the whole collection ranges from just plain bad to absolutely undrinkable and Honey Yuzu is the worst of the five. Tea Forte I feel offers some of the best of the best when the brand gets it right, but it gets nothing wright about this one. With no subtlety and nuance it's just a loud and bizarre mess that comes across as almost chemical. The flavor was so unnatural it lingered painfully in my nostrils long after I moved on to drinking a much better tea. Hideous.

Lovely aromatic green tea
This is a lovely tea I tried at ColdWater Creek Spa. It's a flavorful, distinct tea. Not mild or watery. I loved it so much that I bought a pack at the spa immediately. I am buying the tea system and loose tea now. A feel good, soothing, tastes like summer in wintertime tea. Highly recommend.

Distinctive
The flavor of Honey Yuzu does not seem stronger to me than my other two favorites, Lychee Coconut and Cherry Marzipan. All three are delightfully distinctive and quite flavorful.

Too strong
I expected this tea to be soft and flowery, since so many Tea Forte flavors are just plain lovely. But the honey scent and flavor were so overpowering that the green tea was lost. I've made a few more pots, still trying to like it, but it just doesn't taste good. I would stay away from this one if you truly love green tea.

Overpowering Scent and Flavor
On opening the loose tea canister I was hit with a strong scent of honey, not in a pleasant way but rather astringent. The odd scent overpowers the green tea completely! The brewed cup is just as bad - if not more so because the awful aroma now fills the room. I bought this based on a another review which said the scent seemed floral. Since most Tea Forte teas have that light scent, I assumed that this would be the same. I would not recommend this tea.

Delicious
I'm starting to get into loose leaf teas and this was the first flavor I bought from Tea Forte. I wanted a basic, minimally flavored green tea for my first one. Initially when I tasted this, I thought it was very floral and I didn't like it. This is not a weak tasting tea. It definitely grew on me and I drink it every day now. I love the scent when I open the can...the citrus hint is a great way to start my morning. And having picked this from the green tea section of the site, it is a plus knowing that it is also one of the skin smart flavors.

The caffeine level in a cup of tea can vary by tea type, steeping practices and even the particular tea harvest. We use the following designations as guidelines for the caffeine levels of our teas:
Robust, high caffeine teas; 50-100mg
Lower caffeine teas with shorter steeping times; 30-50mg
Tea/herbal blends with less than 30mg
Decaf tea retains a tiny amount of caffeine
Herbal teas are 100% caffeine free
These steeping guidelines produce the best results for our palates. Use them as a guideline, but you may certainly experiment and find the best results for yours.
